Making the work behind sporting performance visible.
For the University of Northampton, we made the people and expertise behind an athlete’s recovery easier for prospective students to see and easier to imagine as a future of their own.
Northampton had strong facilities and specialist knowledge.
But course information alone could not show prospective students what sports science, coaching, rehabilitation and technical support look like in practice, or where those routes might lead.
Sports stories usually follow the athlete.
Behind that journey are people analysing performance, making decisions, supporting recovery and preparing the athlete to go again. They were part of Northampton’s story too.
Azana developed the campaign from concept through to the finished assets and films.
The films stayed close to the people and the recovery journey, allowing the technical work to carry its own weight.
Students could see where the course might take them.
Empowering Champions contributed to a 30% increase in enquiries for sports programmes, alongside a rise in applications for related courses.
It also helped prospective students picture the professions behind sport and how that work can shape an athlete’s career, recovery and performance.
